Connect With A Person Already Signed Up To SQUIZZ.com

There are multiple ways that you can connect with a person already signed up to SQUIZZ.com, these are:

  • Know their Email address and use the Add Contact form available from the Contacts menu.
  • Know their SQUIZZ.com Invitation Code and use the Add Contact form available from the Contacts menu.
  • Clicking on Connect button after viewing the person's details from the Person Details Dialog.
  • Click on the Connect button for the person that appears in the "People You May Know" section within the Contacts menu.

After any of these methods are used a notification will be sent to the person advising of your contact request. Once they have accepted your request you will be notified and see their name appear in the Contacts menu. If they decline your request then you will receive a notification advising as such.

Below are step-by-step guides on how to use each of the contact request methods listed above.

Connect With A Person Using The Add Contact Form

After logging into the SQUIZZ.com platform you can connect with another person by using the Add Contact form. To use this form you will need to know the Email address that the person's account uses or know an Email account that they have linked to their account. To use the form log into the SQUIZZ.com platform and follow these steps:

  1. Login to the SQUIZZ.com platform from the Home page or mobile app.
  2. Click on the Contacts menu item in the navigation bar (in small sized screens click on the navigation menu icon first)
  3. Click on the Add Contact button.
  4. In the Enter Contact Email Address type the address of the person.
  5. Optionally in the Message field type a message that the person will see in the contact request that allows them to know that its you who is trying to connect with them.
  6. In the Contact Group drop down select one of your contact groups that the person will be assigned to once they have accepts your contact request.
  7. Click on the Send Request button.

A contact request notification will be then sent to them awaiting for their approval.

Connect With A Person Through The Personal Details Dialog

When navigating through the platform there may be times when you see a person's name appear. When this occurs you may be able to click on the person's name and open the Personal Details dialog that show information about the person. Additionally within this dialog you will be able to connect with the person (if you are not already connected) by clicking on a Connect button that is shown.

A person's name may appear within multiple places within the platform, these include:

  • Conversations that you have been added to.
  • Feeds that other people have posted in or commented on.
  • In organisation profiles under the People area that lists people connected with the organisation.
  • In organisation issues that you have access to, where other people have commented on or been assigned to.
  • In a Space that you have access to.
  • In a Shopping Basket that you have access to.

Personal Verified And Trusted Status

Before making a personal connection request to another person signed up on the SQUIZZ.com platform you may wish to view the number of other people and organisations they are connected to, including the number of people have verified and trusted them. as well as the number of your contacts who have verified. This can be done by viewing the person in the Personal Details dialog (see paragraph above). Be cautious about connecting with any people who have not been verified and trusted by any other people, or have not been verified and trusted by any of your contacts. Note that the Personal Trust Status and trust counts should solely be used as an indicator, and it's important to independently vet any person who tries to connect with you on the SQUIZZ.com platform.

By default any personal connections you establish on SQUIZZ.com will be set as Unverified and Untrusted contacts. You can then optionally decide to change each of contact's trust status to Verified and Trusted once you have confirmed they are who they say they are. Each person in SQUIZZ.com manages setting the trust status of their own contacts. By doing so each person within the community of SQUIZZ.com verifies each other at no cost, rather than relying on a central authority to do this. This is security feature because you and your contacts would typically have a better idea if a person is authentic, rather than relying on outside security checks that could be exploited by bad actors. See the sections below on how to trust or untrust a contact.

Invite And Connect With A Person Not Yet Signed Up On SQUIZZ.com

If you wish to connect with a person not yet signed up to SQUIZZ.com you can have the platform send out an invite to them via Email. To do so follow these steps:

Grouping Contacts Into Groups

Once a person has accepted your contact request then they will be added to your list of contacts available from within the Contacts menu on the platform. You can group your contacts together to make it easy to find and categorise how you know a person. Note that the groups can only be seen by you and not any of your contacts. By default after signing up to the platform the following groups would have been created for you:

  • Acquaintances - People you know at a distance.
  • Business Contacts - People you have connected with through your work or business world.
  • Close Friends - People who are your friends and you have known for a long time or have a connection on a deeper level.
  • Extended Family - People who are a part of your wider family, such as uncles, or second cousins.
  • Family - People who are a part of your close family, such as sisters or parents.
  • Friends - People who are your friends.
  • Work Colleagues - People who you work with on a professional level.
  • Unassigned People - People who have not been assigned to any group.

You can change the labels of these default groups, as well as deleted them, and add new contact groups.

Data Sharing Policies

For each contact group you can assign a "data sharing policy". Each policy determines the information about yourself that can be seen by the contacts you've assigned to the group. For example in your "Family" contact group you could assign a data sharing policy that allows family members assigned to it to see all your personal information about yourself, where as for the "Business Contacts" group you could assign a policy that allows chosen business associates to see only your name, email address, and phone number. Using data sharing policies allows you to have great control over the information you choose to share with people and organisations.

Introduce Contacts And Allow Them To Connect Together

Within the SQUIZZ.com platform there is the ability for you to introduce two of your contacts to each other, allowing them to connect together. Only once both people have accepted the introduction then they will be connected to each other and see each other in their contacts list.

Introductions provide a great way to connect your friends, family, business contacts, and any other people together without them having to make contact requests themselves. Additionally with each introduction you can set a message that explains why you have created the introduction.

Create An Introduction

To create a new contact introduction follow these steps:

  1. Login to the SQUIZZ.com platform from the Home page or mobile app.
  2. Click on the Contacts menu icon in the top header bar.
  3. Click on the Introduction link under the name of the first person you wish to introduce.

  6. Optionally in the Message textbox type in a message that both your contacts will see when the introduction is created.
  7. Click on the Send Introduction button.

An introduction notification will be send to both of your contacts. Once both of the contacts have clicked on the Accept button in the introduction then the two contacts will be connected with each other and be able to communicate together. Additionally you will receive a notification advising that they are now connected. If either contact declines the introduction then it will be declined and you will receive a notification advising that the introduction declined.

Note that you can only send an introduction to the same two contacts once, if either person declines the introduction then you will not be able to send them another introduction. Additionally there is a limit to how many introductions that you can create. Once you have sent out the maximum introductions then you must wait for one of the introductions to be accepted or declined before you can send out another introduction.

Control Which Contacts Can Send You Introductions

You can decide which of your contacts are allowed to send you introductions to their contacts through the use of Contact Groups and Data Sharing Policies. Only your contacts assigned to a Contact Group that is assigned to a Data Sharing Policy that has the "Allow Contact Introductions" permission set to "yes" will be allowed to send you introductions.

Trust and Verify A Contact Person

After a person has connected with you and become a contact of yours on the SQUIZZ.com platform, you can optionally choose to verify and trust them. This allows you to confirm that they are who they say they are, and are not impersonating another person. You may only want to verify them after interacting with them, such as by having a conversation with them first, or confirming offline that they are ones who connected with you.

After you have verified and trusted a contact, then when any other person is viewing their details within the Person Summary dialog, they will be able to see the number of connected people who have trusted them. This provides a community driven way for each person to verify each other, rather than rely upon a central authority to do this.

To set a contact of yours as having the Verified and Trusted Status, you must first be connected to the person, then once connected follow these steps:

  1. Login to the SQUIZZ.com platform from the Home page or mobile app.
  2. Click on the Contacts menu item in the navigation bar (in small sized screens click on the navigation menu icon first)

If you click on the person's name then in the Personal Details Dialog it will also show the Verified and Trusted Status icon. Additionally the dialog will increment the count of people who have verified and trusted the person, and if they are connected to any of your contacts then the count of contacts who have verified them will also increment when your contacts view their Personal Details Dialog. Furthermore A Personal Contact notification will be sent to the person advising that you have now verified and trusted them.

Unverify and Untrust A Contact Person

If you had previously set the trust status of a contact person who's connected to you as Verified and Trusted, and you know no longe believe they are who they say they are, then you can set your contact's trust status back to Unverified and Untrusted. To do so you must first be connected to the person, and they currently have a trust status set as Verified and Trusted. Now follow these steps to switch them back to untrusted:

If you click on the person's name then in the Personal Details Dialog it will also show the Unverified and Untrusted Status icon. Additionally the dialog will decrement the count of people who have verified and trusted the person, and if they are connected to any of your contacts then the count of contacts who have verified them will also decrement when your contacts view their Personal Details Dialog.

You may wish to also contact any of your other contacts and advise them that you can no longer verify that they represent themselves on the platform. Your contacts could also consider untrusting them as well.

This can allow that person to more easily be found by other people who are assigned to the same space.
